The Charlevoix Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is committed to offering an effective, available parking system that services the needs of quick trippers and all-day shoppers, alike. In 1987, the DDA commenced acquiring underutilized downtown parcels and converting them into public parking opportunities. Over the past 20 years, the DDA has spent over $750,000 on lot acquisition and improvement and currently offers shoppers nearly 300 available off-street parking places within its boundaries. Another 245 spaces are available on Bridge Street and Downtown’s side streets.
Most recently, the DDA spearheaded a needed increase in parking at the northern end of downtown by doubling available spaces in its DeWitt Parking Lot. This project also included rain gardens and plantings designed to better mitigate stormwater runoff, ensuring proper filtration of waters flowing to the nearby Pine River Channel, which connects Lake Michigan with Round Lake and Lake Charlevoix.
The DDA’s parking inventory includes metered, non-metered and short-term parking options. For a map of Downtown parking opportunities, please click HERE. |
