Phase 1 - Marina (July 2007) and Phase 2 - Landside Improvements (July 2008) |
Phase 1 of the Charlevoix Marina and East Park Renovation project required the demolition of the former offices of the Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce and Odmark Pavilion. The Chamber
of Commerce has been relocated to 109 Mason Street. This paved the way for expansion and modernization of municipal marina facilities including allowances for larger vessels and electricity, water and cable television made available to boaters. A total of sixty-seven (67) total slips will be available for boaters with fifty-nine (59) for transient boaters and eight (8) slips for seasonal or annual boaters. The marina will also feature ample shoppers’ dockage allowing day visitors to spend time in Downtown.
Phase 2 of the overall project includes construction of a state-of-the-art performance pavilion at the south end of East Park and a new harbor master building with extensive transient boater facilities at the foot of Mason Street to the north. An educational trout habitat is slated to run along the southern exterior wall of the harbor master building. This habitat will serve as its own ecosystem and will be able to support a healthy trout population of between 25-30 fish.
A late addition to Phase 2 is the design and construction of the Charlevoix Fountain of Youth, an interactive children’s fountain to be located on the plaza immediately in front of the harbor master building. For more information on the Charlevoix Fountain of Youth, click HERE.
