CHARLEVOIX MAIN STREET MISSION
The mission of the Charlevoix Main Street program is to strengthen the year-round economic vitality of our vibrant historic business district through community efforts, events, and public/private partnerships while fostering a sense of community pride and ownership.
CHARLEVOIX MAIN STREET VISION
Our Downtown captures the spirit of community and is a place to live, work, and play. We are an innovative waterfront downtown that is dedicated to year-round economic sustainability through economic development, community collaboration, and historic preservation.
CHARLEVOIX MAIN STREET GOALS
1. Establish the foundation for a year round economy by expanding shoulder season activity.
2. Bring businesses together to cooperate and coordinate resources to market downtown.
3. Establish the foundation for collaboration, partnerships, and communication.
ABOUT MAIN STREET
Over the past 30 years, the Main Street movement has established an excellent history of transforming the way communities think about the revitalization and management of their downtowns. Cities and towns across the nation have come to see that a prosperous, sustainable community is only as healthy as its core.
The Charlevoix Main Street program is based on a positive force of community volunteers; business/property owners, residents, students, retirees and grass-roots participants all of whom wish to preserve, enhance, and promote our historic downtown as a vibrant destination for residents and visitors to gather, shop, work, and enjoy.
In March of 2015, Charlevoix was awarded the honor to participate in the Michigan Main Street program which offers, to specially chosen communities, five years of intensive technical assistance with a focus on revitalization strategies for their downtown central business district. This program is designed to attract new residents, business investment, economic growth and job creation.
