Here is a brief recap of Main Street committee happenings as gleaned from meeting minutes by volunteer Greg Stevens. Since these discussions don't often get media coverage it's one more way to know what projects are being worked on. See something interesting? You can get involved!
Design Committee: Is working with ProImage on the Wayfinding Signage. They want to be sure nothing is left out of this project. There was discussion as to what can be done with the two fire areas to make them more attractive as construction to rebuild continues. Also how to get the shops that are closed for the winter do something attractive in the windows rather than just a closed sign. Main Street also offers a design service & facade grant to building owners that wish to restore their buildings store fronts.
Economic Vitality Committee: There will be Hospitality and Retail Training Update to be held on Thursday May 25th, at 9:30am at City Hall in the Council Chambers. There are plans to have a work force housing plan in place before the summer season. This will allow home owners to rent out a room of their owner-occupied house to a seasonal worker. Discussion was held about possible transportation on evenings of the summer weekends.
Organization Committee: A Mission Statement has been worked on for a couple of months. The DDA/Main Street Board has approved the Mission Statement. Also discussion on a quarterly Newsletter for the community took place.

Promotions Committee: 11 Restaurants are going to be part of Restaurant Week. Live From Charlevoix is working on the 2017/2018 season Concert/Movie Series are looking for sponsors for these events, if interested please contact the Main Street office.
