| Charlevoix Marina Expansion / East Park Renovation
The largest capital improvement project in the history of Downtown Charlevoix was completed with the complete opening of East Park on July 25, 2008. The project included the expansion of the second most popular public marina in Michigan, a component offering 75 upgraded slips to boaters on July 3, 2007. The Charlevoix Marina Expansion / East Park Renovation project includes a new Harbor Master Building with transient boater facilities at the north end of East Park and a state-of-the-art outdoor Performance Pavilion, home of the Charlevoix Concert Series, located at the south end. In addition to offering top-notch amenities, project planners also valued expanded green space and pedestrian plazas. Park goers will find both upon visiting this gem of Downtown Charlevoix.

The roughly $13 million project was a partnership between the Charlevoix Downtown Development Authority and the Michigan Waterways Commission.
A late addition to the overall effort was the Charlevoix Fountain of Youth, a 30' diameter childrens' heated interactive water fountain with multiple water nozzles and choreographed LED lighting and music.
Additionally, the East Park Trout Habitat, a fully functioning trout ecosystem, was opened on May 15, 2009. The habitat is designed to replicate the conditions found in a northern Michigan trout stream. Fifty trout were planted in the stream to mark the occasion.
