Charlevoix To Celebrate Michigan Downtown Day in September

Downtown Charlevoix is excited to announce their celebration plans for Michigan Downtown Day on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

This third annual Downtown Day is aimed to honor and support downtowns and all the small businesses located within. The Michigan Downtown Association (MDA) made the push with Governor Whitmer in 2020 to officially claim the fourth Saturday in September as Downtown Day.

“Downtowns, and their small businesses, deserve to be celebrated for they distinguish a community, are the drivers of economic development, and help to offer a sense of place that contribute significantly to the quality of life for the residents,” Dana Walker, Director of the MDA said.

Knowing that downtown businesses create jobs, commerce, and investment, Downtown Charlevoix is planning a special celebration for Downtown Day by giving away downtown dollar gift cards to seven lucky winners.

How to enter: purchase a Downtown Dollars Gift Card of any value on September 24th – winners will be randomly selected to win additional downtown dollars ranging in value between $10 - $50. Simply visit and click “DOWNTOWN DOLLARS” at the top of the website. Winners will be notified & announced on September 26th.

“We see the great importance of supporting our small businesses and downtown. Now more than ever, they deserve a day dedicated to them so our local community (and beyond) can come out and say thank you by shopping, dining, and playing in our beautiful downtown” Lindsey Dotson, Charlevoix DDA Director, said.

Charlevoix Downtown Development Authority is at the heart of a movement to develop downtown Charlevoix into a beautiful, green, year-round community with a demonstrated commitment to the health and well-being of residents and visitors alike, and sustainable economic opportunities that invite active participation in all that Charlevoix has to offer.
